APPEARS TO BE / PARECE SER (2023)

This volume is an interpretive artwork in the form of a book. It contains photos
of the bilingual wall labels of the 2022 Biennial at the Whitney Museum of
American Art, compiled in random order.

“Appears To Be” is the operative term of Google’s screen reader image
translation feature. This recontextualization of the labels into a book apart
from their artworks supports various readings.
