The Information Paintings are made in series. Each series starts with a certain intentional selection of a set of museum wall label texts from the “Art Informations” archive. A selection may be all the labels from a room of a retrospective (Series I & II) or pertain to works from the same artist (Series III) among other possibilites.
Following the labels selection, a list of new technical strictures is drawn up for how the paintings can be created. The strictures may include painting methods, techniques, and equipment, as well as painting size, specific paints and colors. The strictures then become the creative parameters to work within - and against. These strictures change each series.
